THE HIDDEN COST
Most people don't recognise how stressed they are until the damage is done. Chronic stress silently erodes mental and physical health, diminishing productivity and straining relationships. Left unchecked, it compounds over time, affecting everything from sleep quality to immune function, yet 74% of UK adults have felt so overwhelmed they couldn't cope.
The problem isn't a lack of willpower. It's a lack of measurement. You can't manage what you can't see.
That's where we come in.
Working days lost to stress annually in the UK (HSE)

THE FRAMEWORK
Everyone sits somewhere on this spectrum. Knowing where you are is the first step to moving in the right direction.
Balanced emotions, steady energy, clear thinking. You feel in control, engaged, and optimistic about the future. Maintain balance with consistent mindfulness practice and healthy routines. Protect sleep, nurture relationships, and build stress resilience reserves.
Managing stress but feeling stretched. Occasional fatigue, mild tension, but still coping with everyday demands. Early warning signs are appearing. Prioritise ruthlessly, set clear boundaries between work and rest, and schedule regular relaxation breaks as non-negotiable appointments.
Persistent overwhelm, disrupted sleep, irritability. Stress is affecting your performance and relationships noticeably. Seek social support and try evidence-based techniques like deep breathing or progressive relaxation. Professional guidance can make a real difference.
Feeling paralysed, numb, or completely overwhelmed. Daily functioning is significantly impaired. Immediate support is essential. Contact mental health professionals, resilience centres, or crisis helplines today. You don't have to navigate this alone.

THE SCIENCE
Our assessment is informed by the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), created by Cohen, Kamarck, and Mermelstein in 1983. The PSS is the most widely used and scientifically validated tool for measuring perceived stress globally, with over 30,000 citations in academic research. It evaluates how unpredictable, uncontrollable, and overloaded you perceive your life to be, the three key dimensions of psychological stress.
We've built on this foundation with a proprietary 4-domain framework developed by clinical psychotherapist Brian Pope, measuring:
Understanding your stress level transforms invisible pressure into actionable insight, empowering you to regain control and protect your wellbeing before stress becomes overwhelming. Research demonstrates that naming your feelings, a practice called 'name it to tame it', helps calm the brain's stress response and builds genuine resilience. Our assessment puts this principle into practice: by accurately identifying your stress stage, you activate your brain's regulatory systems and create a foundation for meaningful change.

Absolutely. Your individual assessment results are completely private. We never share individual data with anyone, not employers, not healthcare providers, not anyone. Our platform is GDPR compliant and hosted on EU servers. You can delete your account and all data at any time.
The Stress Continuum is our 4-tier framework for understanding stress levels: Thriving (green), Surviving (amber), Struggling (orange), and Crisis (red). Everyone sits somewhere on this spectrum, and knowing your position is the first step to improving it.
No. Assess Your Stress is a clinically informed assessment tool, not a diagnostic service. It helps you understand your stress levels and provides evidence-based recommendations. If your results suggest you may benefit from professional support, we'll signpost you to appropriate services including NHS Talking Therapies and crisis helplines.
The Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) was created by Cohen, Kamarck, and Mermelstein in 1983. It is the most widely used psychological instrument for measuring the perception of stress, with over 30,000 academic citations. It evaluates how unpredictable, uncontrollable, and overloaded you perceive your life to be.
Heart Rate Variability (HRV) measures the variation in time between each heartbeat. Higher HRV generally indicates better stress resilience and cardiovascular health. Lower HRV is linked to chronic stress, anxiety, and various health conditions. Our upcoming HRV integration will pair this objective biometric data with your questionnaire results for the most comprehensive stress picture available outside a clinical setting.
Never. If you take the assessment through a workplace programme, your employer only sees anonymised, aggregate data, for example, that 34% of a department is in the amber zone. They cannot see individual results. This is enforced by our system architecture, not just by policy.
We are actively working with NHS services to integrate Assess Your Stress into Talking Therapies pathways. If you're a commissioner or service manager interested in a pilot, please contact us.
